The Tidy Town committee of Come By Chance has worked tirelessly to help beautify the community, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. In 2007, the Town of Come By Chance was a Tidy Town Provincial Winner within their small town category, delighting the committee and residents alike.
One of the Tidy Town committee projects included placing hanger-poles throughout the town to be used for hanging baskets in the summer months. These poles are also utilized throughout the year including Easter with Easter baskets, Holiday wreaths during the Christmastime, and Halloween decorations during October.
Another project close to the hearts of residents has been the Community Memory Garden. The Tidy Town Committee built and created a garden where residents can purchase a plant of flower in memory of a loved one. This Initiative has become one of most cherished areas of the community.
The Tidy Towns committee has also designed and created a number of Christmas wreaths and center pieces that have been used to decorate inside the church.
Upcoming Project
The Tidy Towns committee has plans to restore a large model train and place it in the town for residents and visitors to enjoy. This project includes storyboards recalling the history of the Newfoundland Railway and the importance of the train to Come By Chance. More information regarding this project will be shared as it becomes available.
