Promoting active living by offering recreational facilities and programs to the residents of Come By Chance is an important objective for the town council as a whole. Come By Chance residents enjoy a variety of recreational facilities including the playground, ball field, skating rink and multi-purpose court.
In addition to the recreational facilities within the town, Come By Chance, offers many recreational programs such as the summer program, Leo Club, and fitness groups such as the Biggest Loser.

The recreation committee, of the Town of Come By Chance has spent many years developing and implementing programs and facilities that promote the health and well being of all the residents of our town.
Playground
This playground recently was upgraded with additional stations including: a triple infinity, a ten station fitness centre, three playground springers (animal themed), and a four-seater bubble springer, in addition to the existing swing sets and a multi-play structure. A fence has also been placed around the entire playground to ensure the safety of the children.
Ball Field
The ball field is used and enjoyed by a variety of residents, and is maintained on a regular basis. The ball field is located near the playground and is open to all residents of Come By Chance.
Skating Rink
The outdoor skating rink is located adjacent to the ball field. The rink is flooded and frozen every winter (weather permitting) for the enjoyment of our residents.
Sliding Hill
The Sliding Hill, located behind the Lion’s Club, is a resident favorite during the winter months, and is enjoyed by people of all ages. The recreation committee hosts sliding parties each winter which includes roasting marshmallows and wieners, hot chocolate, and lots of fun for all.
Multipurpose Court
The multipurpose court has an asphalt base and is used for tennis, basketball and hockey. This court is enclosed with a fence for the protection of our residents.
Recreation Centre
The recreation center includes a big screen TV, two pool tables, two dart boards, air hockey table and a foosball table. It also has a musical center, which includes a drum kit, speakers and amps for ‘jam sessions’. This musical center also has a Karaoke machine for rising musical stars of the future.
Canteen services are also available and all proceeds are recycled back into the rec center for such things as events, programs and equipment.
In addition to the rec. centre services, regular events such as movie night, community parties, and pay per view wrestling are held for all to enjoy.
The recreation center is open on Friday & Saturday nights
6:30pm – 8:30pm – Up to grade 5
8:30pm – 11:00pm – Grade 6 to age 21
Walking Trail
In keeping with the town’s mandate of healthy living, the recreation committee constructed a community walking trail. This trail begins near the end of the community, and continues on the beach road, and currently ends by the old government wharf, for an approx total of 3km.
This walking trail is still under development, with a new extension in the works which will include an additional section leading from the old government wharf back towards the start.
Fitness Gym
The fitness gym is open to residents and those working within the Town of Come By Chance. This center includes two treadmills, 1 elliptical, 2 exercise bikes, free weights, stretching area and a family express multi-purpose weight machine.
Fees are $10 per person / month. $15 per family / month.. There is a 20% discount for seniors.
Open 24/7
Beach
The beach is often used for a gathering place by both residents and visitors. People can enjoy one of the four fire/bbq pits that are provided by the recreation committee. The beach in come by chance offer some of the best salmon fishing and bird watching in the province.
Floating Recreational Wharf
The wharf is controlled by the Recreational Boat Owners Association. If you are interested in using this facility you can contact the town office at 542-3240.
